Michele Albert: Tough Enough

Will Tiernay is an operative with Avalon, a top-secret army of mercenaries who recover stolen art and antiquities. When he has to research the possible theft of a valuable reliquary in a company that specializes in making legal reproductions of such items for collectors and museums, he meets his former girlfriend Mia Dolan. He has to find out if she is the thief - or if she is maybe in danger...

Yes I know. This story doesn't sound too new or original. If there were as many top-secret operatives out there in real life as in the books, you couldn't leave the house without stumbling over a few of them . In this case, it doesn't matter. It's just a great, highly entertaining book, thanks to the writing skill of Ms. Albert. That's what makes this book different from all the other secret agent romantic supspense stories: good writing, a likable hero and a sensible heroine. A refreshing absence of TSTL behavior as well as the willingness to simply talk about what matters to them both by the hero and the heroine make the book a keeper for me. This is a very good book (Grade A).
