Palmer Kingston's life seems right out of The Great Gatsby: a 1935 Packard, an apartment in a Spanish-tiled mansion complete with fountained courtyard. The brutal murder of a retired cop just doesn't fit in. But underneath all the charm, Palmer is a shrewd reporter who knows he's got a shot at the story of his career. No one can stop him, including the beautiful A.J. Egan, who's after the same scoop. Both of them know the rules: be objective, remain detached, and don't get involved with a story - or each other. Which proves tough when the murderer takes a personal interest in them.
